Located to the west of Chester is Long Valley with Mendham to the east. Peapack and Gladstone lies to the southeast along with Far Hills. Succasunna-Kenvil as well as Succasunna and Kenvil lie to the northeast. Budd Lake is to the northwest while the largest city, Union, is on the southeast side of the borough.
